I just purchased Ghost 14.0 to replace/update my very old PowerQuest DriveImage 7.0 (1999) (Symantic bought out PQ several years back). I have many PQ backups and have used it many times to restore my system, no problems with DriveImage. The PQ Backup Image Browser is something else. It won't extract a file from a backup image if the file exceeds 4GB and I had to restore one of those. Only way was to restore the backup to a drive on a new partition, move the restored file to where I wanted it, then destroy the restored partition. Can Ghost read a PQ backup? They have the same file extension??? Would I have to restore a drive on a new partition with PQ, and then resave it using Ghost? I read that you must "Activate" it (shades of XP activation)! This will be installed on a stand alone system, no internet connection. Any way to do this without the internet? They mention that there are a limited number of times that it can be installed. If i wipe my HD and install the backup, does this constitute a re-install? Does Ghost support anything like the PQRE (PowerQuest Recovery Environment) - boot from CD and restore your system from an external harddrive? Can you save your harddrive from a Ghost CD image (without having to build a bootable CD - more in line with PQRE). I haven't opened the package and can return it, or it comes with a 60 day money back return from Symantic. Is anyone familiar with Ghost and also with the old PQ Drive Image? Dave.
