Sorry, but: WHY THE HECK did Acer at one point decide to sell laptops with 512 MB RAM and Vista Basic? Being my families IT-support hotline, I've had to "do maintenance" on one of those recently. I ended up booting the darned thing into Knoppicillin for the most part of the "maintenance" because it was so darn slow under Vista, mainly because there are only 3 MB of physical RAM left after the ATI graphics burrowed their claws into 64 MB of the 512 MB installed. I just had to vent.

I see this a lot. I mean sell a laptop/desktop that is hopelessly underpowered at little or no profit and then charge 3X to 10X for the upgrades.

A doctor runs into a lawyer at a party: "Your a lawyer, huh? Maybe you can give me some professional advice. You see I am a Doctor and every time I go to parties like these people always come up to me and ask for free medical advice. I am sure you have the same problem in your profession" "I used to", replied the lawyer, "but then I started sending everyone that asked me for help a bill. Eventually word got around and no one asks me for advice at parties anymore". "That's an amazing idea, I think I will try it". Two weeks later the doctor received a bill for the lawyers time.
