Hi, Can anyone suggest any decent, free video editing software? I've tried googling and get swamped with half a million programs that claim to do what I want, claim to be free, and then turn out to be free trials ... So yeah, any suggestions would be great, Cheers,

If you're just looking for something basic to do some short movies, with simple cuts, fades, soundtrack, and titles, then you actually can't go far wrong with Windows Movie Maker (if you're on PC that is). You may actually be surprised at how good it is, and it's free :-D There are a few other free PC options, like Jahshaka, which I haven't personally used, and Blender, which I found a bit hard to get to grips with. I do quite a bit of video, and eventually settled on Pinnacle Studio as the best compromise for price and features. I'd love a Mac and Final Cut Pro, but I'm still saving for it... :)

I am looking just for something basic, and if I was using Windows Vista, Windows Movie Maker would have been what I used. Unfortunatly, I can't seem to find it in Windows 7, and the Windows Live Movie Maker Beta I can get is just rubbish. I'll have a look at the others you've suggested, but for what I'm doing (it'll be a one off, just make the videos look prettier jobby) I can't really justify paying for anything. Thanks anyway :)

I'm not sure why they've taken Movie Maker out of Windows 7 - maybe it'll be restored when the "official" version comes out next year... In the meantime, you could either find a PC with Vista or XP on it, or try these two links for ideas :- http://www.brighthub.com/multimedia/video/articles/25282.aspx http://on10.net/blogs/sarahintampa/Miss-the-Old-Movie-Maker-Get-it-Back-on-Windows-7/ Good luck :)

Ah, nice find. As far as I can tell, the older version of Movie Maker is working fine. Here's hoping MS either make the Windows Live one better, or out the old one back in. Thanks

Because if you mean that in a general sense, your completely wrong.

Codemonkeys don't do it at all. Too busy coding.
