None, but we need to control what comes in and out of the borders so jobs wont go to china workers making 2 bucks a day.

Why? If the work is worth 2 bucks a day, why in god's name would you want to give someone more than that to do it for you? If you think people should have more of your money than their works is worth, why don't you just give it to them for doing nothing?

Chaining ourselves to the moral high ground does not make us good guys. Aside from making us easy targets, it merely makes us idiotic prisoners of our own self loathing.

You are not paying anyone to do work for you. You are buying chinese and mexican made goods from a corporation that takes advantage of semi-slave labor, and guess what..they keep the profits!

Yeah, so? Why don't you just start your own company making the same stuff and I'll buy it from you so you can keep the profit?

I can program very well. I have weak points but I am strongest with algorithms. It feels really good to develop something that can go through a chunk of data and manipulate it or output some type of analysis. My weak point is UI.

I've seen your code, remember? It is unacceptable and I would fire anyone who turned it in to me for review - and before you decide this is a personal thing - I think Ilion has written some excellent code.

Than I'm sure you won't mind if I continue to have people in china make my stuff for me.

Chaining ourselves to the moral high ground does not make us good guys. Aside from making us easy targets, it merely makes us idiotic prisoners of our own self loathing.

If the Captain goes ahead with his plans, you figure he'll start posting "URGNY PLZ HLP!" messages in the VB6 forum?

Rough rule of thumb: it takes about three years of working with people who understand OOP doing production-level code before you can call yourself someone who understands object-orientation. Before you can design an object-oriented program, you need about 4 years under your belt doing OOP. Some people may do it in 6; others may take 8 or longer. But you have been working in a restaurant, not a code shop; and you sure as hell haven't been writing programs. Problem with bullshitting about your programming skills is that sooner or later someone notices if you are all hat and no cattle.
