This outraged me at to many levels. [^] But honestly cannot conceive of a way to get around the issue of childhood memory and coping of something so life shattering. (I did some work for a agency here as a volunteer contractor that allowed a child to remotely testify and avoid the actual court room increasing their ability to not be intimidated.) But that still does solve the issues of childhood memory letting a bastard like this evade a fitting punishment.

A much better punishment would have been to tatoo on his forehead exactly what this piece of scum is and then let him free to go out in the real world

Simple, don't put him in a segregated wing or in solitary confinement. One year in the general prison population should sort it.

Truthfully, there is no punishment for these people, that is both legal and fitting. I won't go into the details of what I believe should be done with/to persons like this, but I'll make this suggestion: Lock them in a room with Hannibal Lector. Give Hannibal a plastic spork and a bottle of wine.
