Is that still the case if you have Vista installed already? I thought it was only for XP? If I have to re-load all of my software I just won't bother. But then again, I guess that was the EU's idea.

It's whichever OS is installed. And yes, it was the EU's idea. Making everything fair by bringing the best down to the lowest common denominator

:confused: It's always better to do a clean install no matter what OS.

Yeah, I know that. But I have so many applications that I just can't be arsed this time.

I've just preordered my copy of Windows 7 Home Premium (E). Quite a good deal as well - I'd end up buying it anyway, so the money off is just a bonus. I'm not too keen on reinstalling all of my programs and restoring my files though, and the lack of a web browser is just in(s)ane. Has anybody else preordered yet, and if so, which edition did you get?

        I'll wait for MSDN.

what about using some scripting programs that can install all your programs automatically for you? I use one at home (can't remember the name) but it works most of the time. Of course, most of my software aren't cd based so I tend to have the install files in a folder where it gets em from. I like the program, considering how much I had to reformat the computer when I had first built it

Well, thanks. But it was more of a joke. :)

No surely it we be pure and simply Weight - As it will still be heavily bloated and full of dross, then we will have Windows 9 (Wine), which will be so bad you turn to alcohol and after consuming all the spirits have to resort to, you guessed it - wine (hate the stuff! make mine a vodka+redbull anyday.), and then we will have Window 10 which will be callen Wen, as no one will know when it will actually ship after many months of delays.

I'm interested in pre-ordering it, but they are not accepting any orders from my current location. :(
