...it's running surprisingly well! The "score" is a solid 1.0, yet applications open quickly and Explorer stays responsive. The only down-side is the lack of video drivers, meaning games - even those included with Windows - are completely out. Previously had Vista running on this same machine. "Running" isn't really a good word to describe what it did though.

one of the guys here in the office put it on a Tablet, which has a slow CPU and it worked like a charm ... until today, when he booted the system up and it said it needed to restore for some reason. First problem he's had with it, but it did restore and start up just fine.

Can you refuse the restore - and if you do, what happens?

Honestly, I don't know ... he just said that he booted it up, said it needed to restore, it did, and motored on. I'll ask him if there were "options" to that ... [modification] He said there were options, but he just let it restore, because it said it needed to, and it's just a test box. that's all I cal tell ya.

This very old machine makes possible to browse the web, chat in IM and import images from camera while traveling. Good thing for $75 :-) But comparing to my machine which I use now - it is old slow and loud crap.

Yeah - i think there's a pretty good niche for machines like that. Weven was supposedly pared down to enable its use on so-called "netbooks" for this purpose - so it might actually work on an older machine, assuming you could get drivers.

That's why he just choose to restore, actually, he doesn't care about anything on that machine ... just a test box for Weven. Course, we would all like to know why it thought it needed to restore itself . . . Maybe it was bored from lack of real use, and just wanted some attention.

Aside from possibly the memory I think it should be fine. A p3-1.0 isn't much slower than an atom 1.6; and the latter runs weven fine, and I suspect if it didn't run on the slower and lower power atoms (down to 800mhz) acceptably we'd've heard about it in some tech blogs. There're youtube clips of a p3-500 with 512mb of ram running an older build, I haven't watched any since I'm at work. You'll almost certainly not be able to run areo, beyond that...
