That's funny. So now Linux is not a bunch of despicable commies out to destroy the American way? What about 'the GPL is a virus' angle? It's nice to see that MS has decided take a more mature stance on Linux. "Asked by one lateral-thinking MVP whether Microsoft planned to offer applications software on Linux..." 'Lateral-thinking' :laugh: What an interesting way to describe it. The problem I've found is that commercial licenses are often prohibitive. They reflect the traditional UNIX licensing, not the much cheaper Window's licensing. As for GPL, it has never been tested in court and no large companies are going to risk major projects in case the more liberal interpretation wins the day. (I've seen modified GPL licenses that require a company to open ALL their source for a project even if only a single module uses, but does not modify, the GPL'ed source.) (PS. Exactly what GPL'ed open source stuff, for which stuff isn't already available in Windows, is cool?)

Competition (whether it likes it likes it or not) is good for the corporate soul In Microsoft’s case there finally realizing some competition and they---i.e. Linux and Open Source Have made MS start talking about doing some Kernel cleaning, concentrating more on security, and now embracing the MS community more Now all they have to do is follow through But at least there has been a fundamental switch in the way their thinking about things (hopefully anyway) PC Change is the law of life.
