Hotel recommendation, close to San Bruno, San Fransisco
-
I could sure use some help from you fellow devs over there in California, San Fransisco, San Bruno area or from anyone with experience of travelling as a SW professional (as opposed to privately, with the family on vacations, etc...) in that proximity. More exactly, I'll be in San Bruno, San Fransisco, in August for a week of training at a supplier's office. I'll fly from Sweden and need a hotel recommendation, preferrably in San Bruno or very close. I want free wifi and breakfast included in the price (I don't like to think too early in the morning). The rooms should be just "cheap" and good enough to make me actually like to stay in the room - not feeling a need to run away as soon as I've slept my hours. Any suggestions?

I have no idea, but while you're in San Fran, you have to make a point of visiting the museum of computing.

There's a variety of low cost (well, this is the Bay Area, so low cost is relative) chains like: Ramada[^] Courtyard (ok, this is probably pricier)[^] Days Inn[^] Comfort Inn[^] And they're all basically the same services. The Courtyard above looks like it's close to SFO, if that's where you're flying in to. A Comparison[^] The funny thing is, most of the cheap ones offer free wifi, and many of the more expensive ones charge for wifi. Go figure. As for breakfast, ugh. Eggs that are more like superballs than anything a chicken would lay. You should be able to find a nice coffee house / breakfast place close by, which is what I'd recommend, unless you stay at a place that has an actual kitchen and dining room and there's some hope of a something that doesn't taste like rubber and cardboard. About nine years ago I visited San Jose (visiting IBM) and stayed for a few nights at the airport. Flight crew in and out at all hourse and a c*ap system build hotel with half ton room doors so when the doors either side of me closed my bed shook so hard it woke me up X| Managed ot find somewhere just north of the city centre near the light rail so I could get to the site in the morning without having to stay awake.
