It really depends on what kind of person you are. If you are easily distracted, make it clear to family and friends that you are not suddenly available whenever they need you. Make sure they know you're still working regular hours (only if you are, of course) and that they should not trifle you if it isn't life-threatening. Do not restructure your working day, if you can't handle it. If you don't get back into the mood after leaving work, chances are you will fail to return to "work" after any shopping episodes you start. Also check all the tax-related changes you'll have to make next year. Write those down when you learn about them, put them into a seperate folder or box.

1. Get good furniture: comfortable chair and table. 2. Get the work room well lit. I have problem with that. At my work I have bright tube lights and not at home initially. It strained my eyes a lot. 3. Of course good internet connection is a must. 4. Avoid kids near you if you are on a conference call. (Of course you will not have the same problem as your kids). Not so serious ones: 5. Don't let working from home become working for home. This advice may be reversed for some.:) 6. Take another job. I know a guy who has not been to work for a long time. People think that he is working from home on more than 2 jobs simultaneously.

That is certainly my biggest problem.

Earlier I worked from 3 days a week. But now with full time, I have to keep 3 desktops and 1 laptop. That means I have to buy new table. :^)

By the time I start, kids will be in school. But I work from basement. That's not a problem. But my dog would bother me. He takes it personal whenever someone walks on our sidewalk. :)

You mean 'working on home'. I know a colleague who works from home but also works on home projects. :suss: Find me a good bargain in ATL. I may consider moving there.

Update your résumé; they're easing you out the door. I got laid off in January after they started me working from home last July. I think someone else here had a similar experience.
