Hey Guys. Is it just me or are Sky completely incompotent when it comes to anything. I've spent the last few months trying to talk to a member of staff about getting our phone + broadband sorted. When I finally get through to someone they're always blaming the computer systems! Just always seem to be broken. Finally got a phone line! That only took 4 engineer appointments and 3 months of arguing with sky... Now for BB. * Sorry for the rant i just needed to get it out of my system

I dunno, I've never had any problems with them. I got Sky + broadband + phoneline. The only thing I don't have is Sky+, and when I rang up asking if I could have one cheaply for being a loyal customer (5-6 yrs) they said "No.":mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: Apart from that, I've got no complaints :-D

I hate Sky. Not only are they really expensive but their service is p*ss poor as well. I rang up the other day and asked for a Static IP, to which they responded "A static what?", at which point I put the phone down and switched to Virgin Media, which gave a faster internet connection, TV and phone, cheaper than what I was paying for Sky.

How you think they get there revenue, easy by keeping us suckers hanging on. There are alternaive numbers to ring but you have to google/bing them up as they are constantly changing. That reminds me I should be getting a Sky HD box for free when I threaten to leave again.

Just been on the phone to them and managed to get the Broadband installation waived. I'd wanna switch to Virgin but the Miss's is insistant on having Sky. Those alternative numbers are brilliant! If you can get them while they are alive!

Tell them you're going to cancel then. I did this a year or so back and got Sky+ knocked down from £169 + installation charges down to £49 all in. Just play dumb about knowing about this when you look to cancel and they'll put you through to their customer retention team. I played the "I don't watch many programs because I'm always busy, so it seems a bit of a waste paying for Sky" card; they asked me if I wanted Sky+ at the full price and I told them it seemed too expensive. The nice gentleman then said that he could possibly do me a deal seeing that I'd been such a loyal customer - job done.

And why would you think a Minimum-wage call-centre worker would have a scooby what a static IP is? Having been with Virgin since the NTL days, I can assure you they are worse for customer support than Sky. Ask them for a static IP and they'll just laugh.

I've had Virgin broadband and phone calls for the last 15 months at £10 per month and had no problems apart from the connection being throttled at peak times (all within their documented throttling policy). I was going to switch to PlusNet to avoid the connection throttling but Virgin have just released a new unlimited unthrottled service so I'm staying with them and have switched my line rental to them as well. £35 a month for the first 6 months and £41 a month after that which gets me 8Mb broadband, anytime uk calls and line rental (no more BT:)).
