    You reek of disdain and insolence. You can put perfume on shit but that doesn't make it stink any less.

    Thanks, CSS, Have your first five for that almost Chaucerian riposte ! That's a high standard to live up to, but I will try :) best, Bill

    "Many : not conversant with mathematical studies, imagine that because it [the Analytical Engine] is to give results in numerical notation, its processes must consequently be arithmetical, numerical, rather than algebraical and analytical. This is an error. The engine can arrange and combine numerical quantities as if they were letters or any other general symbols; and it fact it might bring out its results in algebraical notation, were provisions made accordingly." Going by the ages of most people here, it's *I* who is not KSS.

        Hi Miszou, How about we make a bargain here : if you don't tell me what I should or shouldn't do, or how I should, or should not vote, I won't tell you what you should or should not think :) Just because one or more persons vote to remove a message does not mean that message is automtically removed ! I trust Chris and CP staff to do "the right thing" to keep the Lounge and CP a place that "nurtures community," and is "kid sister safe." I am sure the decisions they make about what to remove are deliberate, and well thought out.

        Is there something stopping you right now from "making up your own mind" whether you read comments on a removed post, or any other posts ? Learn to stop reading things when they confuse you, unless you suspect/believe they contain content worth learning something from, and, imho, you will be more at peace. Of course : "being more at peace" could then deprive addicts of "SuckPosts" of their "daily bread" : the moral issue in that ... well, each of us must come to grips with that using hazardous-material evaluation and handling techniques of our own choosing. Also, think of this : allowing banned messages to persist in some form would then diminish the "spectrum of suckness,' impoverish the lives of those who live to write code like :

        // I am pretty new to Linq : please feel free to "fix" (neuter, or spay) this code to taste

        List<SpectrumOfSuckness.Posts.SuckPostTopicType> possibleSuckPostTopics =
        new List<SpectrumOfSuckness.Posts.SuckPostTopicType>();

        possibleSuckPostTopics =
        (
        from suckPostTopic in SpectrumOfSuckness.SuckTopics

        	where
        		suckPostTopic.TopicFlavor == SpectrumOfSuckness.Flavors.Suckissimus

        	orderby
        		suckPostTopic.IrritationQuotient ascending

            	select suckPostTopic

        )
        .ToList();

        // selection procedure from list of possibleSuckPostTopics
        // left out here as an exercise for the reader

        best, Bill

        Actually I think it takes 13 people to press the 'vote to remove message' button, after that the post get removed without intervention of Chris or the staff.

          So many threads of half-missing conversations. It's like listening to one end of a phone conversation, and all you can hear is "hmmm... aha.... oh yeah, I totally agree.... hahaha... Oh no she didn't!!..." Just because you don't want to read something someone said, doesn't mean you should vote for it to be removed so no one else can read it. Please, let me make up my own mind as to whether I should be able to see all the comments or not. Vote it down if you must, but removing half my reading material just because you don't like someones opinon or whatever is just plain annoying. There, I said it. 'Message Automatically Removed' sucks today (and every day actually).

          I understand where you're coming from, but the messages that get deleted are usually in extremely poor taste or racist and violate the KSS rule in some way or the other. People complained that removing the message caused lack of continuity, so Chris left the message with the placeholder, now people don't like this either. Sometimes I really pity Maunder.

          Cheers, Vikram. (Cracked not one CCC, but two!)

            You state:

            • If people are deranged, they should seek psychological help.
            • You refuse to seek psychological help, because it will make you sexually impotent and chemically lobotomized.
            • Wanting to see harm done to others indicates a dangerous mental illness.
            • Those with a dangerous mental illness should seek help (presumably psychological) immediately.

            Conclusion:

            • You think others that are too sensitive should seek psychological help.
            • Psychologial help is harmful.
            • You wish that what is harmful (psychological help) to be applied to others (those who are too sensitive).
            • Since you want to see harm (psychological help) applied to others (the too sensitive), you have a dangerous mental illnesss and should seek (psychological) help immediately.

            I have been trying for weeks to get this little site indexed. If you wonder what it is, or would like some informal accommodation for the 2010 World Cup, please click on this link for Rhino Cottages.

              Not always. Often the mob simply votes down a post because of it's author.

                CodeProject could offer "Troll Pro" subscriptions where you can still see the messages removed. Cha-ching!

                Personally, I love the idea that Raymond spends his nights posting bad regexs to mailing lists under the pseudonym of Jane Smith. He'd be like a super hero, only more nerdy and less useful. [Trevel]

                  I *know*, I even said "usually". I know it's wrong, but I can't pity CSS. Most of his comments are inane, and I find a good percentage of them offensive (racist, Islamophobic, etc). If he were to disappear, it wouldn't be too soon.
