    How soon can we expect to see notebooks with Win7 pre-installed in stores? It's time for me to buy a new notebook and it would be a shame to get one with Vista after I have been succesfully avoiding it for the last 3 years.

      I think that if you buy a PC with Vista you are entitled to a free upgrade to 7 (I might be wrong). Anyway, general availability is Oct. 22, I guess most stores will start selling 7-based PCs the same week.

        This is the case, however you need to register it with the manufacturer and they ship it to you, and you pay the shipping costs (with Acer, maybe not for others?).

              late october, early november. Win7 is scheduled to release to public in late october.

                Acer is supposed to have a couple Windows 7 models available starting Oct. 23. I don't know which models/features though. Flynn
