anyone tried it yet? i spent all day yesterday finding mirrors that were quick enough (here[^]), and then i burnt the ISOs. when i went to install them on my linux box, the CD-ROM drive made crunching sounds and refused to open. :( so, i bought a new (52x! $35!) one today and found out that one of the ISOs was bad. three hours later, i had good copies of all CDs and now i'm installing. but my poor P180 is so pitifully slow that it's going to take over an hour to install the thing. :( but, on the bright side - the installer looks great! RedHat has obviously hired some graphic designers this time around. IMO, it's nicer looking than the Win2K installer. :~ if it ever finished (38 minutes in!), i'll see if the new stuff was worth the effort. :rolleyes: until then.... :beer: -c

The screenshots looked great I must say. They managed make gnome look very nice. The default look of gnome is nauseating. X| I also noticed they install a really nice firewall setup. i skipped the whole 7.x series, so i can't say for sure. but they've obviously updated the kernel, the various packages, etc.. and i've heard they've done some work to help merge (sortof) KDE and Gnome.- i only use Gnome, so i can't really attest to that, tho. the installer is much better than the 6.x - no hassling with the xconfigurator, it just worked. sweet. -c

Yeah, I checked it out at www.redhat.com and it looks pretty nice. Some of the stuff, installer and kernel haven't changed too much (if at all) from 7.3, but the addition of Bluecurve, OpenOffice, Mozilla, Evolution are new.

I'd like to try a Linux distro again. I've tried a few in the past, but I've always had a horrible time trying to set up the XServer with my previous graphics card. Any idea if any of the new distro's support dual-head video cards (radeon8500), because I can't go back to just one monitor (even if my second one is an old fishbowl.

I've got it on my laptop, but I don't know yet if I like it.
