CheckBoxList problem in C#

I am trying to check a checkBox in CheckBoxList using .Selected = true property, But not working dont know why but changes are not getting reflected On UI. Could you please help me out in this. Thanks in Advance.

its not nessesary to do it by writitng code because the checkboxlist has a build in property MultiColumn to set it TRUE

I do not understand. Please explain how setting the MultiColumn property to true will help the OP to check a CheckBox in theirCheckedListBox.
