Windows 7 upgrade question
-
I'm hoping that somebody will be able to answer this for me. I've recently taken advantage of the offer where I can get W7 for £30, and downloaded the 64-bit version of Home Premium. I didn't feel the need to order a disc because I've already got the full W7 home premium disc. On a laptop, there is a 32-bit version of Vista Ultimate. How would I go about upgrading the x86 Vista Ultimate to x64 W7 Premium using the W7 Premium license key? Would I use the double install trick, or have I just wasted £30?

I believe the 32-bit and 64-bit versions use different keys. I could be wrong, though.

You're right for XP and wrong for Vista/Weven. In the latter everything except OEM/Systembuilder packaging comes with both disks; and the media (no key) can be ordered from MS for $10(?) shipping and handling. Useful if your OEM picked the wrong version on the system they built you and you don't have a disk from anywhere else to use.
3x12=36 2x12=24 1x12=12 0x12=18

Hmm, interesting. I upgraded from an OEM Vista x64 using the free upgrade, so that one was locked to my architecture.
