Stealth Treaty Seeks Strict Controls Over Internet

And yet they still manage to pirate enough copies of windows to trigger outrage when Mircosoft manages to kill the pirated version.
I am amazed by him. So which is it? Is it a secret attempt to use this treaty to control everyone through sublte but utterly EVIL censorship, or just outright censorship that everyone knows about? Why would they be part of a conspiracy by Western CORPORATIONS to control the internet? They already show a remarkable tendency to not want to listen to the west. China is well known for pirating software. Hell, it's an industry there. They censor the internet a ton and jail people for anything they don't like. It's like he doesn't think his responses through.

Sounds about right.
Proud to have finally moved to the A-Ark. Which one are you in? Author of Guardians of Xen (Sci-Fi/Fantasy novel)

Standard practice for many ideologues out there. Why think when we can assume we already know?

They only censor for political reasons. They don't give a shit about copying software, they do it themselves (chinese government). They are a bunch of power hungry criminals.

Wait, I can almost agree with all this. WTF?! I'm going to have to go see if dogs and cats have started living together...

I'm wondering who isn't a bunch of power hungry criminals to you. But congratulations, you've managed to say something loosely correct. But the point is, if they aren't clamping down on the internet entirely, they can't actually manage to censor it completely. Never mind it's entirely possible to get software which can bypass all of their restrictions.

They do a pretty good job at it, backed with prison time. If you get caught looking at forbidden material, such as anti-communism sentiments, your ass gets clamped in prison.

Are you trying to convince us that China is a totalitarian regime? I thought this was common knowledge.

I'm just amazed he's stating stuff and backing it with evidence. Well, not really evidence, but enough evidence has been found that having to show it is pretty much not needed. Seriously, when is the meteor hitting? I'd like to take my wife out of here, have some fun then grab our kid so we can all be cuddling when it destroys us.

I can agree with this on some levels. So the meteor hits soon... I think I will take the afternoon off.
