    - Day 1: I changed some settings here and there in my friend's laptop's windows vista - Day 2: He calls me up saying, the internet connection is not working in his laptop; working in his roomies laptop; and I am the culprit :sigh: - Day 2 After some time: I reached there to check things; it was able to setup connection to router, but the router was not able to setup connection to internet. There were lot many users showing in his wireless network, so to make it more secure, I logged in the router from his lappy and changed the security settings to WEP with key length to 152 bits instead of 64 bits. I copied this key to text file, and the connection was lost as the router was restarted. Harassment 1: I went to wireless connection's properties and tried to throw the new key in. It could not accept the whole key, and it was truncated leaving me without any connection to router. :wtf: I could see it could accept keys only for 128 bits with length of 12 or 16 chars. :( Now I went to router and connected it to the lappy with a wire. I was amazed to see that somebody had plugged the routers in wrong way: The internet cable which should go to the ISP's router first and then to wireless router; but it was done the in reverse way; I corrected it. Harassment 2: The router default ip was not getting connected. Tried with other thousands of ips and all browsers available, for all in vain. Losing all hopes, I finally restarted the machine; logged back in and tried the default ip; it worked. :suss: Then I went in the router settings and modified it to 128 bits. How would I know that vista needs a restart at this point? X|

Clearly the problem is that you're using WEP (Wireless Elimination of Protection) instead of something capable of even minimally securing a network.
