Business Jargon...

Am I the only person on the planet who refuses to use these stupid "buzz" words people in office environments are comming out with??? I refer to things like:
- "Going Forward"
- "I have been tasked with this"
- "The figures for Q1
- "Has this been Actioned?
There are many many more... Are there any that get you? or make you cringe? :confused:

I've always found people using the term "learnings" rather jarring. As in: "So what are the learnings from our last project". or: "We had a problem with X, which is a new learning for us". "Learning" isn't a noun and I pretty sure "learnings" isn't even a word. The word you're looking for is "lessons"

Lessons has a negative effect as it evokes images of unpleasant days in school learning things by rote. Therefore, management has decided to transition to the use of the term learnings as it has no prior usage, therefore no negative baggage. We need to be proactive on this to avoid a hostile workplace environment. Didn't you get the memo about this? Doris, send him another copy, m'kay? That would be great. Flynn

"Buzz word" is a buzzword phrase. :-D I much prefer "meaningless, trite, entirely made up evasions of proper English usage to mask your inexcusable ignorance" to "buzz word."
