The person could have deleted their post after the e-mail was sent to you.

Are there rules for the Lounge where one receives a email reply yet the response is not posted?
Two common ways for this to happen, actually:
- If a user emails you directly via the "email" link on your post (assuming you opted to allow this), then you'll get an email but no publicly-visible reply will be posted.
- As DavidCrow notes, a user might think better of his response after posting it, and delete it from the forum, leaving only the already-posted email behind to tell the tale... ;-)
