Surprising : No new year resolutions yet ?

This last year I've been totally lazy, and I've been eating loads. Put on about a stone and a half... :( I'm now officially a fat git... :omg:

I thought when I would visit the Lounge around the 31st Dec, I would be able to see some new year resolutions being posted here. To my surprise there are none. So lets start now. What are your resolutions for this new year. I will post mine - Loose weight. Sounds funny, but its true. Software development job (sitting job without no movement / physical activities) can help you gain weight quickly ! Your thoughts are welcome !!!! [Edit] : Forgot to wish all CPians and there families a very happy and prosperous new year ! May your coding skills sharpen this year and we see a rise in world economy again.

I was thinking about remote controlled and fully automated vehicles for fun. Here's a project for you... A small car with AI to make it behave like an insect? Get a few together, and make them aware of each other... That would me great. Completely impractical, but if money was no object... :-D

Yeah this was a project by IBM and MIT. It took the power of a super computer to make them learn how to 'interact' I don't have that kind of money, but there is always the Nvidia Tesla desk top supercomputer. I do plan on getting one soon. Mobile phones make great robot brains and if they have wi-fi it makes it really fun. Have you looked at the Microsoft Robotics package? You can design the intelligence with out having the real robot. It also works with Lego Robotics if money is an option.

How would you go about implementing this? Do you have to reprogram the phone? Well it's actually they way most hobbiest are doing it these days. There is a little conversion etc, many tutorial available. Turn the old cell phone into a robot[^]

I have two degrees in electronics. US Air Force and College. I can do everything from bread-boarding to microprocessor design. It's been a while since I have done serious work, but the Air Force drilled it in pretty good. They didn't like the thought of their air planes falling out of the sky...

my new years resolution for 2010 is 4960x1600; otoh that was also my 2009 resolution and I'm still stuck at 3200x1200.
