Rock Climbers?
-
I've asked in the past but people come and people go. Any hard core climbers here? It's the most insane workout I've ever had, fun and ... I mean for exercise you cannot possibly workout more parts of your body in one session and not even realize you are doing it. It's unreal. Every climb is to failure and you'll wish you could go beyond that.

Not a rock climber but I know what you mean climbing a 30 foot ladder a few times to take down all the plastic hooks (Christmas lights) that the previous owner left up did not feel like a workout when I did that but I felt the pain for three days after..

Not hardcore, but I do enjoy rock climbing. I've been rock climbing on real mountains maybe 2 or 3 times. But every time I go to an amusement park, I climb their artificial rock walls. Usually, they give $20 anyone who can reach the top. It's fun. So, Rex, have you reached Tom Cruise rock climbing level yet[^]? Scientology must give him superpowers or something. ;)

I've never tried it other than the normal course of scrambling up mountains we all do who go into the wilderness in this neck of the woods but as a guy developing the ability to do a *lot* of pull ups recently I've been hugely impressed by the youtube videos of guys "campus boarding". It's been a few years but I used to live to climb. More general mountaineering than hard core big wall rock climbs, but I've done a few climbs in Tuolomne Meadows in Yosemite and in the Pinnacles, soloed a couple 14'ers and a slew of 13'ers in California, soloed everything worth climbing in the NE, including what was at one time, anyway, the only solo winter traverse of the Northern Presidentials in New Hamster (topped out on Mt. Washington in single digit temps and a wind gusting to 80+); did a total of 20+ peaks in New England as winter soloes (-35F at night in the Franconias)... so yeah, I've seen the top of a few peaks. :-D

Yes, I do enjoy rock climbing, both for physical and mental training. Literally translated from German, climbing legend Wolfgang Güllich[^] once said: "For climbing, the brain needs to be the stronges muscle". Actually, I love to have the fear when standing in the middle of a tour, the previous bolt being 2 meters below me, the next being 2 meters above, and then (usually) still finishing the tour successfully

I was about to respond and say "CF does it". Then I saw it was you. If only I realise all my mistakes *before* I commit them this year.... :)
