There are ten types of person in the world: them as learn from history and know binary, and them as don't.

That only works if you write "10", which is binary for "two" if written in word form. "Ten" in binary would be "1010". You basically just said: There are 1010 types of people in this world: those who understand binary and those who don't. I guess you are one of the other 8?

If you haven't tried it, how do you know it isn't production-ready?

To summarize Create a new folder on your desktop and rename it to GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} Works on Vista 32bit

All right, you guys, I got eight crates of Ipecac from Mort. All on my tab. Now, whoever goes the longest without puking gets the last piece of pie in the fridge.

To expand upon, "GodMode" can be replaced with "PlainView" or "ArbitraryString" and it will still work, from what I understand.

I believe I've yet to hear someone pronounce "10" as "two". "Binary 10", I've heard, intended to mean "two". I normally recite either a string of ones and "oh"s, or read larger numbers off in eights (where "1010" would be "one-two" or "two-one", depending on whom I was talking to).

Headline seems a tad showy. Nonetheless, it's nice to see a simple interface. On Windows XP, I use the Control Panel in menu form (everything in a long list).

As insanely long as the resulting list is I'm still not sure how it's supposed to be faster than just using the search feature...

Yes, they probably don't like the fact that some of us don't live in our mother's basement and/or worship an operating system. Or maybe it's my dislike of the Java mentality that annoys them. Whichever it is, I can go home tonight content in the thought that I've P'd off some kiddies who have barely had the time to learn anything substantial about computing.

Not really fear, but rather an unwillingness to be a de facto beta tester. Every (as in *Every*) OS MS has put out has required huge numbers of fixes, within a year or so -- far more than you should expect. I can't be bothered with paying attention or giving time to it all, any more.

Yeah, but the article says that can cause crashes on some systems with 64-bit Vista.

Windows 7, in my experience, might be the best of them from exactly this point of view. It's not perfect, it's not XP, I wouldn't run it net-connected without automatic updates, I'd handle some things differently, but up to now I never thought "this feature should be fixed". just my two cents.

Personally, I love the idea that Raymond spends his nights posting bad regexs to mailing lists under the pseudonym of Jane Smith. He'd be like a super hero, only more nerdy and less useful. [Trevel]
