Because it is empty. It was full when I put the iPhone in before leaving for work. Somewhere in the walking to the garage in 6" of snow, dropping the son off at day care and walking in to work that stopped being the case. Spent an hour retracing, shoveling, and begging the powers that be while dialing it hoping it would be close enough for me to hear the vibrate mode. That phone will cost more than I make in a week to replace and was less than 2 weeks old. :( I hate my luck.

Ah that sucks, hope you find it. If you do then maybe consider signing up for MobileMe, don't have an iPhone to use it but sounds good. http://www.apple.com/mobileme/whats-new/[^]

That is why I tend to put my phone either in my shirt pocket or in a pocket on the inside of my jacket. Gravity may pull it down, put it won't pull it out. Tim

You bought a phone that costs more than you make in a week? That's crazy! Either the phone is insanely overpriced for where you live, or your wages are insanely low :( Either way it sucks. Hope you find it, it's gotta be around somewhere close by.

Time to re-evaluate - Do you really need an iPhone?

All right, you guys, I got eight crates of Ipecac from Mort. All on my tab. Now, whoever goes the longest without puking gets the last piece of pie in the fridge.

In the UK at least replacement costs are totally different to the cost of a phone "bought" at the start of a contract.

AT&T subsidizes the phones, cost me less than $300 when I signed up. The actual price is a lot higher. And I am an intern. After being laid off from a job of 8 years thanks to a recession I was lucky to get this. (And this state sucks for pay) Thanks.

We got a deal for getting 2. Our old phones would randomly reboot while trying to make calls. Trying to convince my wife out of the phone anything is about as likely as getting JS/OP to give you his guns and take up being a tree farmer (so he can hug them more.) Especially now when she's all hormonal.

Maybe the case was empty before you left the house -- that is, someone at home took it out and is playing Jelly Car with it as we speak.

If I remember correctly, AT&T offers phone insurance that would replace the phone is lost or damaged (except intentionally), for a small monthly fee of course. I don't have my AT&T bill with me to check, but then again, I've not lost my iPhone in the last 2+ years I've owned it. Good luck and hope it turns up.
