How does bowing to someone indicate ones nationality? It could be a procedural thing. Like bowing to a monarch. He may be obeying an old custom or protocol. It's a show of respect for one to acknowledge something like that.

The president of the United States doesn't do that. He is the supreme leader of the world. You are *clearly* not an American citizen of the United States of America.

I didn't say that bowing indicates what nationality Zero, The Won, is. I said it indicates a specific nationality that he is not: Americans do not bow to anyone ... except to God. And for the (alleged) President of the United States to go about bowing is shameful.

Americans have bowed as a form of respect whenever the culture has been one that it is customary. Every American that had trade or diplomatic missions to Japan bowed. That said, a President does not bow lower than the person they are greeting. Ever. Not even the Emporer would have demanded it. To not bow in a culture where it is done is shameful and arrogant. It is like refusing to shake hands.

I'm pretty certain that I've seen American presidents bow to the Queen of England. I've seen them bow for other leaders as well. How is respecting another persons position or culture shameful? It shows a respect and understanding of another person.

Nonsense! Americans do not bow. That is *our* culture.
When in Rome...

Heaven forbid we don't swagger in and act like we own the freaking planet...

Best tell that to President's Kennedy, Ford, Carter, Reagan and at least one of the Bushes, they all bowed to the Queen. But then you have had 43 presidents in 234 years, we have had 43 Monarchs in a 1000 years. And the Queen has been head of state for 58 years, and has met Every President since Herbert Hoover. And the wives have curtsied. Your trouble is you see bowing as weakness, not as respect and politeness. That is why you are a twat.

That whole "leader of the free-world" thingie is just BS. But, in any event, Zero, The Won, is at best but the "reader of the free-world."

That's not what I called him. Perhaps we need a <sarcasm> tag.

And here I wonder why people think all Americans are rude idiots. I should know better by now.

You have never seen a US President bow to anyone: it just isn't done.

One respects one's own culture first. Unless, of course, one is into patronizing others. This fool isn't showing anyone respect, any more than Jimmy Carter was by making a big deal of toting his own luggage off Air Force One.
