    or at least i think thats what they are called frankly i'm completely confused (i'll skip "disgusted at having to pay more money to access an operating system i already paid for" for now) as to what we need to buy we have several people needing randomly occasional access to the server and we find that either we get booted off or cannot connect depending on who is on already what type of extra blood money licenses do i need to allow more users to connect at the same time with their own sessions thnx

        Are you sure that you aren't bumping in to the limit of 2 RDP sessions on a server if you don't activate terminal server? By default, on a 2008 server install it will allow 2 remote desktop sessions at a time unless you activate the application server terminal services, which can then have many more multiple sessions. The application server does require CALs to use.
