DISCLAIMER: If you're not a online/computer gamer, please move along, nothing to see here... :) So, I play WoW...sorry, it's an addicition that I do NOT want to get rid of. Anyway, after 5 years of playing and paying, my account got Hacked! Good news was it happened as I was playing, so I immediately knew something was up, and at least had the time to change my password...Bad news was I wasn't in time. This happened Sunday and I got my account restored back to me yesterday. I don't know how they hacked my account, and I have several, so it's only this one, and I run several Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware/Keylog sniffer/etc software daily and nothing has been found. But, just to be safe, I restore my system back 4 months hoping that if I did miss anything, this would help. What it did is require a 4 hour complete download of the game (about 25Gig). So happy me finally logs in thinking I'm good to go only to find ALL my gear/gold/items are gone. They raped my account in less then 15 minutes which is how long it took from when I got kicked out to change my password and report this issue to the game support folks. So bad goes to happy goes to annoyed for 4 hours goes to bad all over again. Sure I can log in at least, but I'm advised not to while Blizzard Entertainment "investigates" this second issue, which usually takes 4-6 days. The bad part (like I need more 'bad') is that this just happened to a friend of mine in game, and the resolution was to give him 2500 gold and some emblems which wasn't even CLOSE to what he lost...I feel like I wasted 5 years getting to a certain level only to start over again. Okay, I'm done...thanks... :)

Ohh man, that SUCKS! Although, this is the main reason I've never played online games like those. It's a bit like playing the lottery with the same set of numbers every week. Best thing is not to get started. Or, I suppose you could hack other peoples accounts and get back what you had ;)

Do you have Blizz authenticator? It helps a lot with secure your account and you get cool pet in game :) Anyway it is pity you got hacked twice in such short time. Consider also changing password to your email and all info required to recover it, because it can be your email account that was compromised and not key logger on your machine. This could also explain why only one of your accounts got hacked.

Hehe, na, that's just not me. As addicted as I am, I do realize it's a game and as such I truly lost nothing of value. I can replace eveything in time. Good news is that all my friends in game know, they'll be more then happy to help in any way...

Well, as soon as I got Hacked on Sunday, after I reported it and everything, I went on my other account and ordered enough Authenticators for each account, so I'm just waiting for them to arrive. And yes, I went in and changed my email address passwords to NOT match my account login/passwords, which should help (although I didn't see any suspicious emails to start). Once I get the authenticators and this gear issue is resolved, I'm going to create new emails for each account and switch them over. I only use these emails for the game anyway, so I'm not losing anything by doin this. :)

Man, I'm glad I escaped that addiction... I started playing WoW during the first stress test (Open beta), and apart from a six-month hiatus, I played right up until last July. Gotta admit, despite all of the badmouthing from people who have lost friends to the addiction, it actually WAS A fun game for a long time. I just think WotLK ruined it... They dumbed it down too much, and the whole game started to revolve around "Daily quests" (They had some of that in BC, but it wasn't quite so important). Basically, after the third or fourth day of wandering Icecrown doing the Argent Tournament dailies and the Shadow Vault dailies and the whats-their-name-giant dailies... I started to realize... "Hey, you know what? I already HAVE a day job, and that one PAYS ME instead of the other way around. Why am I paying someone else to let me something this dull and monotonous?" So I logged onto WoW, and without any warning at all, told my guildies something along the lines of, "Hey guys, I just cancelled my account, and I won't be coming back. See you on the forums." And logged off. (And then I tried Champions Online for a few months, only to realize why everyone keeps moving from other MMOs to Warcraft - Soooo boring)

Do you know you can have single authenticator assigned to multiple accounts? I don't know how many you have, but good luck finding the right one when you DC in the middle of raid
-- "My software never has bugs. It just develops random features."
Yes, but I play on diferent systems so normally 1 account is on system 'A' and a second account on system 'B' which are right next to each other. So those authenticators will be place with the appropriate system...but just getting DC'd in a raid or 5-man sux anyway.

Lawl I been playing since the end of the original Open Beta as well. Played until BC came out and after about 6 months, lost interest. I originally strated playing Everquest prior, but that didn't evolve as I though it should. After WoW I played EQ2, Eve and Warhammer Online...all resulting in me getting tired and bored. When WotLK came out I rejoined and it's been fun, good guild helps. I stay more for the social interaction then anything, it's fun to speak to 10-15 people at a time while all doing a raid.

That's the same reason I stuck around as long as I did... Hanging out with the guildies was fun, and I WAS in a good guild. "The Core" on Argent Dawn (US RP/PvE)... Problem was that a lot of the old timers started to disappear, and it got to the point where there were about five people I had known for years, several that I'd known for a year or so, and a lot of strangers. So, there really wasn't much to hold me there anymore.

You shoulda raided. Dailies are boring, yes, but there are ways around most of them now. I'm just trying to get my guild going in 25 mans and learning how the floor hates us and they should avoid whatever it wants to kill us with this time. Seriously, the floor is the number one killer of people in this game, it lights on fire, shoots up spikes, explodes, lights on fire, poisons you, impales you while lighting you on fire and also lights on weird colored fire. Given half a chance I would find a way to kill the floor.

See, there's the point: If you enjoy leveling, but not playing the game as such, you might want to rethink your position.

I did raid... I was even collecting achievements in 25-man Naxx, because I had nothing better to do... Heigan(sp?) was actually somewhat amusing the first few times (Safety dance), and I kinda liked the tactics with the four horsemen. Then, once I was fully geared from Naxx, I went to Ulduar and was bored out of my mind after only four bosses. That's when I quit.

Those 4 bosses are arguably the most simple you could have found. Boss 1: vehicle gimmick fight Boss 2 & 3: Control adds, drag boss around. Boss 4: BURN HIM!!!!! Oh hai adds. Back to boss. The fun started about after that. Council: cake or death? DO we go with killing the guy that hits like a 2 ton hammer first or leave him for last. Don't stand in bad stuff, do stand in good stuff, but don't let boss do it, control some dwarf that acts like a complete turd. Kologarn: It's Disney!!!! It's just a giant torso. So what now? Kill the right arm. Which right arm, HIS right arm, moron. Watch out for where his eyes look at the floor, cause it burns. Now adds, now chest, get that other arm down a bit, now finish it by killing the other arm. Librarian lady: oh look, cats. Kill them, hey they like 2 shot tanks... Okay, now she fears, position everyone, new add, watch out for the floor trying to kill us... Hodir: Free adds that help you, don't stand where ceiling and floor conspire to kill you. Get up on snow mounds or freeze to death, keep moving, get buffs from a bonfire and some spotlights, free the guys again. Freya: ADDS!!! Kill 3 guys within a few seconds of one another, get to mushrooms when they pop, kill trees that randomly grow and if bloom heal the bad guys, bunch of little guys that explode when killed, so don't kill em all at once. Oh and now get her... Throgrim: okay, you guys run up this tunnel, kill some adds, avoid ground exploding in a line at you, kill a mini boss, go up some stairs, fight another guy, more adds and then smack him. Everyone else, stay down here and try not to die to the waves of idiots. Oh, watch out for where his hammer hits the ground, cause it blows up. Mimiron: FIRE!!! watch out for it. Oh another tank, yea. now a turret, and now a helicopter. Hey, are they merging... V01-tr0n (I love that) Kill voltron, watch out for the p3wX2 lasers (pewpew baby) I haven't even gotten to the last 2 and they are insane. :P Now I wanna go back...

Yeah, did Kologarn, but never beat him... Cute, but not fun. Whole thing just got so boring. Trying to think of why Burning Crusade was so much more fun, but I don't think it was any one thing in particular (Though raiding BC was equally dull after Karazhan and Gruul - Tempest Keep made me want to gouge my eyes out from boredom)... Have to admit, though... The Death Knight starting quests were one of the coolest things in WoW history... And the last few quests in the Wrathgate chain... Wow... But other than that, I miss the old pre-70 Scholomance days.
