I also learned to like coffee black, so I wouldn't have any problem drinking whatever was available.
Isn't that like learning to enjoy hitting your toes with a hammer so you won't have any problem when you drop something on them?

Amen. My wife thinks I'm a fly with all the sugar I add.

No. It's like not ruining a good steak by putting steak sauce on it! :)

I like my coffee, I really do, sadly or rather not so, I changed jobs recently and the new place offers free machine coffee (rather than a kitchen in the last place). Issue - the blasted whitener is made from corn syrup and I'm diabetic. I really don't want to go on a blind aimless rage because the people here are actually really nice, especially immediate boss who tried her best to get it changed over. Response from HR was "we are not required to provide these facilities and there are alternate sources available" which, while the whole message was generally snippy, I can sort of understand (alternate sources being the canteen so, paying for it). Unfortunately the canteen is a bit extortionate so I'm on sugarfree Red Bull which is giving me the pickup for less but can anyone recommend anything else? (Yes, i've tried black coffee too but the powder cakes the tubing apparently because without eating anything else, my levels have gone up 2 mmol within the space of a morning)
Get caffeine in capsules so you can take it in the dosage you want drinking whatever you want. I don't know about where you live, but here we can order stuff like caffeine in the exact dosage you want per capsule (one cup of coffee per capsule?).

More like not slathering the overcooked shoe leather with a1 to hide that it's natural taste is even viler.

Actually I happen to like the taste of coffee. If you don't like the taste, you can always drink something else -- no problem. :)

Mountain Dew? Coke? Perhaps diet is ok for diabetic? I've always disliked coffee. I've gotten stares for drinking soda in the morning, from people buying rediculous sugary things in a vending machine. The difference is what? I also bring my own soda in; its cheaper, and we have a fridge. I hide the soda in the lunch sack to discourage "borrowing".
