There are plenty people in continental Europe and elsewhere around the globe who would like to see all traces of American military return to American soil, but they might be the minority as well as suffering short-sightedness. But that would make your foes and potential foes most happy.

How is that going to create potential foes? Because I'm one that would be for a move to have all of the soldiers all around the world to come back home. That would create a much stronger national defense.

If an enemy force thinks that they will fill in the vacuum and launch a campaign of command & conquer, then there would be a real war. Unlike the "war" we are "fighting" in the middle east, we would declare war on the country responsible, and strike them down hard, relentlessly slaughtering and destroying non-stop until they surrender. That is the way a war should be.

With us there what does NATO need troops for? According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_number_of_troops[^] Most of Europe has very little by way of military now. They wouldn't know what to do if China or Russia did something. It's like the movie title "Team America World Police".

Potential foes - that suggests a future foe on unknown ability and unknown location. Removing your armed forces from the world outside of America will - perhaps - permit regimes to become insecure and unstable and prime for takeover, with a policy that could be hostile towards that which America stands for, and such hostilities might not be restricted to diplomatic and verbal attacks. Around the globe, the United States military is a modifying influence. If all of the United States military returned to American soil, what are the odds that insecurity will be felt in Washington and other places within the USA just because of the overwhelming numbers that will be there. Most likely some will be made redundant - as in surplus to requirements. But your mate, Henize, is on record in this very forum of fearing what a large military force might be required to do on American soil to American citizens. A stronger national defense - no doubt - but it don't arf scare Henize.

If you surrender ground by returning your armed forces to American soil, you have effectively announced you no longer are interested in that part of the world you have vacated. Then you have forfeited your rights to have any say in who takes that place - friend or foe.

We declare war on that country. 3.) We relentlessly slaughter them on their own lands, and destroy their infrastructure while keeping them as far away from our lands as possible. 4.) If not surrender repeat step 3. 5.) After surrender, negotiate terms.

We would have been there earlier, if not for the self-centric isolationist agenda you see spouted by CSS. That was our policy, more or less, until Japan woke us up with a kick to the naval rear end. Now, we're being very sure not to make that mistake again. I think WW2 perfectly illustrates the argument against isolationism... Even if a country does not directly attack us, an unchecked war will eventually affect everyone. If we had stepped into WW2 earlier, I bet a lot of lives could have been saved, including (But obviously not limited to) all of the AMERICAN lives lost at Pearl Harbor. And if Japan hadn't screwed up by waking the sleeping lion, as they say, the Nazis may well have taken over Europe, expanded for a while (Hey, none of OUR business, right?), and eventually come at us in force. Better to stop these things as early as possible. (No offense intended to the Europeans... You guys put up a hell of a fight and took a lot of punishment. We just tipped the scales.)

Apart from the obvious bloodlust, which is obviously compensation for your own failed life, might I ask how you'd pay for this alleged war ? The US is currently a banana republic as far as I can see.
