Jing rocks today

Jing[^] just rocks all round. I'm in no way affiliated, just a happy user. I use the thing every day to recod movies showing thigns I've worked on or explaining concepts. It's fantastic. It's image capturing is mostly okay-ish, but for quick and easy screen-recording and sharing, you just can't beat it. And I'm doubly happy to not be contributing to the sucks negativity going on. Yeah!

Never heard of it before - but I've been quietly wondering what people use for 'video' capturing their desktop for production of tutorials etc. I just downloaded it, but it's insisting upon creating an account before it will work. Unfortunately connection to their server to do this has been blocked mostly probably by the network bores where I work. Oh well...

Download it quickly, because the good ones all get bought up and killed off by Adobe, so that they can sell Captivate.

Used to use Camtasia (by the same people as Jing) for that sort of thing - really excellent product.

I've used CamStudio[^]. It works well enough. I didn't feel like plunking down a couple of hundred for it's big brother Camtasia ( http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.asp).

Boo for being blocked. That's actually one of the more useful aspects of it, is it's tie in with their other offering of online video storage. It makes it really easy to share with people. But it still irks me that I have to sign up to use it. What if I just wanted to save the videos for myself? And like Jim said - CamStudio works well enough.
