I'm a strong believer of "If it's too good to be true, it probably is". And $699 for all those tools sounds fishy - to say the least. So I e-mailed Dundas sales on two different occasions, asking for the license agreement. I have yet to hear from them. Did anybody out there buy the thing? What's the catch? -Oz --- Grab WndTabs from http://www.wndtabs.com to make your VC++ experience that much more comfortable...

Hey Oz, I'm sorry if the sales team hasn't got back to you on the licensing issues, in all honesty they've been totally, totally swamped. The Goldrush license agreement is the same as our standard one, simply put you can use it for anything, you can't redistribute the sourcecode you buy, and all the products collectively are licensed to a single developer (so you can't split them up and hand them out among a group of devs). Other than that it's all pretty much standard stuff. There really isn't anything fishy about it. We've classically found that developers don't purchase tools until they are completely painted into a corner. Just about no one buys these products proactively. So, we have historically run a promotion like this about once a year to reward those devs who are willing to buy proactively. For various reasons that I've explained in another post this is the last time we're doing it however. Please feel free to email me at davec@dundas.com if you have any other questions.

Yup, I bought mine when they had about 50 left - I had forgotten to buy earlier, but they sent me an email as I had bought TCP/IP 2.0 a few years back. I had a problem with the username/password combo they gave me - didn't work so I couldn't get into the web site. But that was caused by a transcription error at Dundas. Soon fixed. I haven't even unzipped the files yet. I downloaded them and then burnt a CD so that I'm safe from disk crashes. Saying that I paid for media - that I have yet to receive - hmmm, must email them about that. Like David Cunningham said, I bought this knowing that I haven't a use for it at present, but I expect I will have, hopefully in the next year :-) (Got a list of 6/7 projects for the next year...should find a use in there somewhere...) While it is a great deal, it's not as good of a deal as they make out. For instance, they list Ultimate Grid, and Ultimate Grid ProPak as seperate licenses, with UG being $499 and UGPP being $999. Well, if you consider that UGPP includes UG, they're claiming it twice in their marketing blitz. You don't get 2 licenses for UG, since the source code is only licensed to a single developer.

Erik Well you know how the marketing types are. But seriously, it seems like a whack of code for $699, but I haven't bought one yet, although I might. I like the idea of having all that stuff there if I need it, although I don't imagine I'll be using the Math stuff all that much. Lori
