I have a dream..

that one day pc and console gamers will be able to join in one game. This way pc gamers can declare their l33tness over the console players then the console players can auto-aim headshot the guy typing across the map. I mean seriously why hasn't this happened yet. There have been some games in which windows pc and xbox 360 players could play together but those can be counted on one's fingers. I have a hard time believing that the programming aspect is what prevents developers from creating such a game. Consoles are little more than specialized pc and they all have internet connectivity so besides endianess issues, binary data is binary data. I'd do it myself but imagining the large sum of money required for such a project can only be acquired by an individual such as me (aka college student) through the lottery and the chances of that are slim. Anyways, I thought I'd through this out there.

Then, take a good look at Microsoft's XNA Game Studio. With this you can start coding games for PC and XBox at the same time. It's (almost) just a matter of recompiling with different settings. Have Fun!
A while ago he asked me what he should have printed on my business cards. I said 'Wizard'. I read books which nobody else understand. Then I do something which nobody understands. After that the computer does something which nobody understands. When asked, I say things about the results which nobody understand. But everybody expects miracles from me on a regular basis. Looks to me like the classical definition of a wizard.

Yes this is what sucks about "games for windows" and all the other crap. A ton of accounts to create just to install and run GTA 4 on a PC (GFW, Rockstar Lounge and I'm sure there was other crap to fill in as well) on single player and then when you try to use the multiplayer stuff or compare yourself to your friends you can't as "GTA 4" and "GTA 4 PC" are listed as separate games (and everyone else I know who plays it is running the xbox version).

I believe the problem is more to do with game pacing and style, console games tend to be slower paced due to the control methods. A PC player will always beat the socks of a console player in an FPS simply due to the input method. No joystick / controller will beat a mouse keyboard combo of speed and accuracy.
Just racking up the postings

Yes, I know what you mean. Shadowrun (PC to XBox 360) and Final Fantasy XI (PC to Xbox to Xbox 360 to PS2) are the only two games I can think of offhand. Cross-console gaming would be nice as well. Being able to play (for example) Burnout Paradise on my PS3 with players from the Xbox 360. Flynn
