It just struck me as odd that someone advertising a forum for divorced fathers would think CP is a good medium.

There was a recent survey of developers that has completely overturned the myths on demographics in our industry. While many think of developers as overwieght pizza-eating social outcasts living in basements, the fact that developers are more likely to be married - and to stay married - than the average person. We're not just smart, we've gone and grown up, secured ourselves good jobs, and started families. I'll have to dig up the report again and look for the bit about us all being of above average looks and modesty. I'm sure that was in there too, somewhere.

The community is predominantly male with many introverts that find it easier to talk about personal things and emotions over the wire than eye to eye. Most peers can't help a lot with the practical side anyway - they picked a side, no kids, divorcing with kids is the worst thing ever etc. I find the fathers part slightly more interesting. First steps of emancipation :D

Here's a post I made a few weeks ago that might help explain things: http://www.codeproject.com/Lounge.aspx?msg=3428242#xx3428242xx[^] The audience at Code Project is actually a very good fit for this effort. Members tend to be more educated, more involved with their kids on average, I would bet have a more traumatic experience through separation and divorce, are more likely to want to communicate and research online about it and, like me, much more likely to be frustrated by the resources currently available.
