Yeah, that's the part that I used to work on, and I'm happy the guys working on it are still maintaining the old documents and drivers. Though I think a lot of their large customers would start freaking out if they even hinted at getting rid of the old stuff.

I have a 1235cn printer and they still haven't done any SEO so that I can just slap 1235cn into google and download away. I have to navigate through menus on their site. What is this 1998? Yes, I've ranted about this before, and no I'm not changing the title to why dell sucks today, because that would be oxymoronic.

I bought a dell pc a few weeks ago. After uninstalling all the crapware it's working great. But from your horror story I better hope I never need a driver for it. :~

Yeah, for every one thing that these manufacturers do poorly, there are 3 others that do a worse job.

The drivers usually work great, I'm just bitching about having to navigate their site. Since they don't sell downloads, they don't care that search engines can't index their download page. I want one click instead of 5.

I'm generally happy with Dell, but surely you meant to say redundant? An oxymoron would be something like 'legal offence'.

Cheers, Vikram. (Got my troika of CCCs!)

Yes, redundant. That's what I get for posting late at night.

...and the cool thing is first you select Laptop on the drivers download page -> then Type, say Latitude -> then model, say E6500 -> then confirm the image, Yes that's the one -> now select OS, Windows 7 64bit -> now select category, Display -> now hit Download.... after that click 5-6 times with your eyes closed to install them... :-D
