Ron Paul settles the accusitions of racism directed toward Rand Paul.

You understood it because you already know it. And I've made it clear that I actually agree with PARTS of libertarianism (Mostly object to the economic side, as I've said before). I don't mind seeing it in the media a bit more, as I'm in favor of presenting every possible viewpoint and letting the people decide what they really want. But he's trying to avoid the issue instead of tackling it directly, and that doesn't help his cause.

Corporate welfare and other giveaways does not coincide with the libertarian model. Libertarians object to theft. Libertarians also object to command economies and government manipulation of the markets.

I'm aware of the libertarian viewpoints... And this is exactly why the party is so small... This all or nothing mentality and refusal to compromise means that only the most hardcore believers will join you. Personally, I can't respect ANYONE who sees everything in black and white. Shades of gray, young one... Shades of gray.

Author of the Guardians Saga (Sci-Fi/Fantasy novels)Libertarians don't compromise with criminals, and the party is not small. Most people want the libertarian model, except for those who get free money from the government. Those who get free money from the government are excited about the criminality. They just want to loot the producers.

See? You call anyone who isn't with you a criminal... And you wonder why no one likes you.

If this was true, there would be more libertarians in congress.

Yes, that has been proven beyond doubt (many times, often with supporting evidence provided by Codes Complete Sh1te himself)

Never mind the fact that EVERYBODY is racist, but only white people are so scared that they must prove to everyone that they are not racist.
It follows, then, that you must believe Ron and Rand to be merely pretending not to be racist. Therefore, you must now believe them to be liars. Which means that you cannot now trust any statement they may make as being other than a device to obtain office. Just another politician. :sigh: (Unless you do not really believe that EVERYBODY is racist. In which case the liar is ...)

First of all, the accusations aren't that he's racist, but that he supports OTHER peoples' right to be racist. There's a difference, which I'm sure you can't comprehend. Anyway, he didn't settle it at all. He went on an on about how this was already decided in the 60s, and it shouldn't be brought up now. That's not settling it. That's avoiding it. He spent a good five seconds in that entire speech, giving a vague justification of his son's viewpoint without any real explanation ("It doesn't make economic sense" to discriminate... "It's silly")... For the rest, he was just trying to distract from the issue. I don't see how the Libertarians expect people to understand their position (Which does merit some discussion), if they don't explain it to the general public when they have the opportunity.

Oh look, it's what a number of us assumed they'd say. I mean, it's not like any of these rich white people would ever be discriminated against, who could possibly have a problem with discrimination. Since the only thing anyone values is money what possible motivation would anyone have to discriminate? I'd wonder where they become disconnected with reality, but that'd require finding a connection in the first place.

This is exactly how I've seen Ron Paul's views. They're not racists, but they confuse a business with a person and businesses aren't people. Putting aside the supreme court's decision that businesses have the right to free speech, businesses have no right to discriminate since they're the entity under the law not the business owner that is being regulated. This is the difference that the law makes. Since a business isn't a person with morals, and ethics it has very limited rights. As was explained to me by a lawyer, the lawyer representing the business isn't necessarily representing the interests of the business owner that is why he recommended getting a separate lawyer for the owner of a business in another firm. I'm sure this part will be lost on some. Libertarians expect a free market of morals and ethics to resolve the pettiness of idiots, bigots and morons who either run companies or are put in power. Ron and his son are just like any other politician, anyway, blame the supposedly leftist media, run to fox for a fake hard hitting interview, claim biased and avoid owning it so they can make money from donations. Wash, rinse, repeat ad nauseaum. This is the politician way.

Don't worry about it. White will be the minority in America in less than a generation. Then they'll start getting discriminated against and start bitching.

So... Why couldn't Rand settle this when given the opportunity for much longer? And why would anyone want someone in office that has to go crying to poppy to fix things? (I think 8 years of a President with daddy issues was more than enough, thankyouverymuch.)

The Tea Party want to vote in people that truly represent their libertarian model. Ron Paul is certainly #1, Rand Paul well, they voted him in. It was a landslide victory.

They didn't vote him in... They selected him as a nominee. He's now the GOP candidate for the position. Still has to beat the DNC candidate to actually get the job.

This changes my comment how? Rand Paul gets on a show and skirts around an answer and when he finally answers is shown to not really understand that people are a-sholes and acting as if a free market will somehow correct this is just plain stupid. Rand Paul then has daddy come and attempt to bail him out. (You will of course pick 1 sentence that is in here that is not the main point and argue that. I would even bet it is this or the previous sentence.)
