So I got this e-mail yesterday congratulating me that my application (My article here on CP) had been added to the Softpedia database. I however did not submit a thing! This kind of puzzles me, how and why was it added? Besides that, it was merely a demo project and not an actual application. They copied my description, version history etc. And they think that "Kaiwa" is my middle name rather than just a nickname! Don't get me wrong, I think it was funny to see that they picked it up (with screenshot made by them) and tested it for virusses (*giggle*). I just don't know how it happened.

This isn't the first time this has happened. I've had some of my stuff from CP as well as other sites picked up by "parasite sites". They're trying to populate their site with content, and they just "rip" the web. You can probably tell them to remove the article - they also probably won't listen.

It's not that I mind that they added it. It's more how it happened without any prior notice. They can just leave it there, fine with me

The same thing happened to me.  A polite request to remove the app was promptly honored.  SoftPedia lists a couple of my freeware apps.  But these listings were added by me and the apps are closed source and not published at CP. /ravi

Does Chris know about this sort of scraping?

I did the same. Softpedia removed my stuff again when I asked them to. There was one other site though (don't remember which one) that did the same and didn't respond to the request at all. Think they were somehow connected. LEECHES.
