Good man, it's an infinitely better device. Had mine for a couple of weeks now

I've seen a couple of them in action and they look sweet. It's just a shame that HTC don't put as much effort into fulfilling their promises on previous models. I'm still stuck on Android 1.5 with my Hero and unable to install half the apps in the Market or have proper navigation. I hope the same doesn't happen to Desire users. My contract's only got another 8 months to go so I'm not holding my breath as to whether I ever get an upgrade.

I won't hold my breath. I'm expecting them to come out with the old we won't bother with 2.1 we'll go straight to 2.2 any time soon. Just like the won't bother with 1.6 or 2.0 porkies they spouted before. The phone itself is pretty cool but I'll be avoiding HTC in future unless I see some serious improvement in their attitude to their customers. It'll be interesting to see how quickly desire users get 2.2.

The 2.1 update for GSM Heros went out in Taiwan today, the company's home country. Other countries won't be far behind :) 1.5 to 2.1 is a fairly big change underneath, though they have admitted themselves it was a mess. Rumours are currently that the Desire will get 2.2 late this month.

HTC Phones are pretty good. Although a lot of them seem very similar these days, I remember when they only had a couple of devices. Currently on the Motorola Dext though, I wanted a device with a keyboard running Android and this is almost perfect.

I'm currently on my second HTC HD2 (first one got stolen - Remote Wipe through Exchange Server is sweet), and I simply love that little thing. Particularily so with the aid of www.xda-developers.com, whith the help of whom I've got a custom ROM on the device that rocks royally. Something VERY special would have to come along to make me consider switching - and it is most certain that I will not be going for an iPhoney. If anything, I might be loured into the Android camp. But for now I am something as unusual as a very happy WinMo user. //L

I'd like to see it, android 2.x is the big thing to me with all the things it includes and that's been out for 6 months now. I'm not so fussed about the value of x or the SenseUI as a lot of the issues that Sense seemed to iron out seem to be ironed out by android 2 anyway. The crazy thing is that if HTC hadn't spent so much time lying that it an upgrade would be out in the next few months I'd have rooted the phone and installed a vanilla android ROM on it back in december and been a much happier customer but instead I've been falling for the "next few weeks" blag for the last 6 months and I'm now unlikely to buy one of their phones again.
