iPod/iTunes addons
-
I did a quick google search which resulted in a lot of fake results so I figured I'd ask here. Just bought a new iPod nano which has 16Gb of Space, compared to my 60Gb classic. I can only put just over a 3rd of my songs on the nano at once. Does anyone know of an addon that will randomly shuffle what songs are on the nano each time I sync it? Or does iTunes do that and I just don't have it configured correctly?

Me too!!! What I like best is Zune Pass, subscription based music, not that bad, for 15 USD/month you can download as much music as you want and keep 10 of those songs, bad thing is that if you don't use those 10 credits you will lose them at the end of the month. But Zune pass has been worth for me, when having reunions, some people likes to listen to some specific music, so I just download/stream it to the zune or computer and presto!!! I download around 20 albums every month, some to try them others with the intention to keep them (using the credits or MS points), but as long as I'm paying for the Zune Pass I can keep listening to the music I already downloaded, the thing is if I stop paying for the Zune Pass that music will stop working (unless I bought it) The social part of zune is great too, I have a couple friends with a Zune, so we exchange from time to time information about songs, I know what my friends are listening and with Zune pass I download the albums/songs directly to my Zune or to the computer. And wireless synch, is awesome too... MS needs to work more on the app support tho... Apple is way ahead of MS here, hopefully with Windows Phone 7 this changes So iPod users, check Zune... I used to be an Apple fan, MacBook, iPod touch, iPhone, Time Capsule, Apple TV.. etc, I just have the MacBook left
I want to die like my grandfather- asleep, not like the passengers in his car, screaming!
I finally signed up for the Zune Pass a couple of months ago and regret having waited so long. It's a great complement to the device. I haven't done anything with the Social -- no friends. ;) Apps aren't a big deal to me on my HD, though I believe I've actually downloaded all of them that are currently available. I always like hearing from other people who like their HD's as much as I like mine.

Make a new Smart Playlist (File menu). From the options dialog, select your search criteria, your song limit (you can select by number of files or total size), and make sure you select Random Selection and Live Update. Each time you refresh the playlist, it will randomly select the songs based on your criteria. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1801[^] for more information on Smart Playlists. :-\ This article[^] also has some tips on creating Smart Playlists along with a (Mac) screenshot of the options dialog. We should find more Zune HD owners and start a social group :) just an idea, my friends that also own a Zune don't regret it and are just like me/us, loving it every day If you want you can add me to your friend's list and start enjoying that part too, tho the more the merrier... I'll send you a PM with my Tag, that is the same one I use in my xbox... And also, de smart DJ in the Zune HD is great, I've been using it lately and the songs selection is great, and if you have the WiFi active with a connection it will also suggest some songs from the marketplace and if you have zune pass... sweetness!!!! oh, the PC app for Zune is 100% WPF and very well developed...

I have an 80GB Zune and I've been looking at the Zune pass for this reason. My question is when you "purchase" the 10 songs are the simply MP3 files or do they have some type of protection on them to keep me from backing them up or moving them over to another device? I'm not looking to file share I'm just curious if me buying the songs is actually buying them or if I have to mess with stupid DRM crap.

No protection, the files are yours and you can do whatever you want with them, but the other songs/albums you download using the Zune pass, that you're not purchasing (either with credits or MS Points) at the end of the month will no longer play, unless you pay for one more month of Zune pass, when you do this, you get 10 more credits to purchase 10 more songs. Btw, if you're going to get the Zune pass, use the credits as soon as possible, otherwise you will lose them one day before your Zune pass expires, it won't matter if you're renewing the Zune Pass, but trust me, it's worth to pay those 15 bucks/month If you look it this way, the average album has 10 songs, the average cost of a CD is 15 USD, so paying 15 bucks/month gives you access to millions of songs, that you can play in your computer, xbox or Zune (haven't tried anything else), you can keep 10 songs every month, it's like buying 10 to 12 CD a year, but you're actually having access to maybe 100, 500, 2000 albums, like borrowing music from a friend, while you get your own CD's

Well, with the Stallmanites, the phrase "motherless sons of bitches" comes to mind.
