Dutch police goes crazy

Source: http://depiratenpartij.wordpress.com/2010/06/09/piratenpartij-furieus-over-staandehouding-posterplakster/[^] Dutch news again.. about the elections this time. In short, someone who was putting up posters for the Pirate Party in Nijmegen was arrested, at first because "you're not allowed to put up posters at night in Arnhem" (so? it happened in Nijmegen - and it is allowed in Arnhem) and then a Prosecuter said "the name of the party is too negative". So a policeman made a mistake (well ok.. it happens) but WTF? I would expect a Prosecuter to know the law, and especially the constitution. In long.. use a translator.
The Pirate Party! How many other countries share the same irreverance as the Dutch and British? We have our Monster Raving Loony Party, and have had for decades. The French and Belgims dont though, but how about the rest of the world? What whacky parties do you have?
Morality is indistinguishable from social proscription

In the US they have the Democrats, here we have Labour: don't get much wackier than those! :)

Well we have a whole bunch of religious parties in a secular country. That is certainly whacky. The worst of them would be the SGP (Staatkundig Gereformeerde Partij), these whacky ultra-rightwing christians don't want women to vote or get a seat in parliament. They also don't like this whole secularity thing and want to revert it. They are against euthanasia (even when the "victim" begs for it) and abortion (even for rape victims or young girls who's[?? need grammar nazi] lives would be ruined by having the baby). They also want to bar stores from opening on sundays, even though religious people could just choose not to go shopping on sunday - but no, they want to force religion down the throats of the atheists (70% of the country). Christian-extremists. The "really whacky or clearly non-serious" parties are not active anymore.

It was banned, but yes, they did try. The Pirate Party is actually OK, they will fight for privacy, civil rights and a more transparent government. Not too whacky.. edit: here is the whole list http://piratenpartij.nl/standpunten[^] (btw, I voted PPNL)

Thats a shame, the Monster Raving Loony Party really is for laughs only: Due to the increasing number of children afraid of needles, I propose the destruction of the tedious, scary and often painful process of school vaccinations. Instead, I propose that highly trained nurses should be given free reign on the playground with specially modified tranquillizer rifles which apply vaccinations as well as a tranquillizer. This would have two main benefits: It would be less scary for the children as they will not know what hit them, also it will be more fun for the nurses[^] Ha ha, that really is very fuuny!
