Does anyone have any recommendations for a home security/surveillance system? We're looking for probably at least 8 wired (not wireless) cameras (preferably color, but not required), preferably with night vision, the abiity to access the cameras online, email notifications, backup to external drive (or a removable drive), and an interface to a PC. I've found a several online here[^], here[^], and here[^]. At first glance it looks like the first 2 have a higher-quality compression, but the third has some more detailed specs. We'd prefer wired over wireless (for security). We'll be redoing some electrical and running ethernet around the same time. Does anyone have experience setting up a system like this? Any recommendations on who to go with? Thanks, Dybs

Haven't quite planned everything out yet, but most likely, yes.

Yeah but the clean up is a PITA and getting the bone fragments out of the front gate is just plain tedious!

lol no, my wife wants to be able to check in on everything (red: the pets and her saltwater fish tanks) when we go on vacation mostly. But some added security would be nice, too ;P

If you're looking for something PC-based, I saw software which I think was called i-Catcher once which seemed pretty decent.

You could look for a dog. Plus they more in the package than "guarding the house".

There is no cleanup needed. The remains of those who came before serve as a warning to others.
