In this case more so since they are BR's opinions about how the future will develop. They are not cast iron certainties as to what is to come. It's rather like me quoting Zamyatin, Orwell or Huxley to support a particular view of what might happen. In this case you would (rightly) dismiss the views since they are fiction, but the same applies to BR except they are speculation.
