Yep, most wars are fought on ego or a wish for more riches, not for the needs of the people. Unfortunately most people are so laid back about the people ruling their countries they don't even bother to vote. In England they are trying to introduce online voting, and even voting by text message to entice more people to vote (wish I'd got onto the bandwagon of developing that app! Someone must be raking in the cash) as this seems to pander to the laziness whim. Very sad. Who said humans were perfect? I'm sorry to hear your brother might end up getting involved. With any luck for once public opinion will have some effect this time instead of just letting the big boys test their toys out on each other.

Well, this whole war on terrorism just got really personal for me. I just found out yesterday my brother will be shipping out somewhere east on Dec. 6 - right before my bday and Christmas. He doesn't know exactly where he'll be yet though. I'm not worried about him unless we end up going to war while he's on tour, however. If that happens, I'm gonna be really pissed off. What sucks is that it was supposed to be me out there. I always wanted to go to the army growing up but I got in trouble with the law at 17 and they wouldn't let me go. Yeah, there are some laws you break and they don't want you in the army anymore. He just signed up for the reserves because he wanted the extra money the dumbass recruiters always lie about to meet their quotas. And, I can't shake the thought of me my brother being there instead of me seeming wrong somehow. This crap all comes down to dipshits in "power" not wanting their egos hurt or their religion insulted. That goes for ALL countries and not just the US. And, any stupid CPians wishing to use this thread to speak poorly of or blame the US or defend their religious beliefs can kiss my ass. I blame all countries and all neanderthalistic, pathetic relegions. If more people studied the human mind and human nature and why people are the way they are, outside the presence of their own fragile egos, religion would eventually fizzle out -- guaranteed. One thing's for sure... I hate politics and religion. Screw all of it. Jeremy Falcon Imputek Excrement escapes everyone - even elders.

Jeremy, First, I agree with the general trend of your message. Jeremy Falcon wrote: I blame all countries and all neanderthalistic, pathetic relegions. In stepping back I personally would not quite say all religions. I have no real beef with any religion (other than a true satanic cult.) I am a Christian but one of the two people that I consider to be my best of friends is Jewish and I have close Islamic and Atheist friends. My beef is those who use religion as a means to justify what they want politically. I think this is a method many on all sides in our problems now. I hope it is not offensive if I say I will pray for your family. "We are what we repeatedly do. excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." Aristotle

In retrospect, you are correct. And, I do agree with your sentiment. I was kinda venting. Not to say I'm right, it's just frustration needs to come out at times. Especially when it's your own brother involved. Michael A. Barnhart wrote: I hope it is not offensive if I say I will pray for your family. Jeremy Falcon wrote: I hate politics and religion. Screw all of it. The problem, however, is that both are inevitable in human populations. You cannot have civilized human society without politics of some flavor or other. Religion can never "fizzle out" because once you have successfully dismantled one source of moral authority another rises immediately to take its place. Human society cannot survive in a moral vacume. In fact, far from becoming less religious, society is becoming ever more intolerant of those who defy established moral authority. Both politics and religion are essential components of any civil social order. The scary thing is that the distinction between the two is becoming ever more difficult to discern. Arlo did a song called Alice's Restaurant. It's a story about Arlo the pacifist who was rejected by the draft for being a criminal. In spite of plenty of available documentation on wrong ways to live, we arrogantly repeat the mistakes of past generations until we've managed to make a thorough mess of things. Then we ask for another chance, pleading ignorance and youth. And this has been going on for countless generations, with no improvement what so ever! Shog9 ------
