http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/jul/12/villain-to-hero-raoul-moat[^] I can't believe people do this to a child abuser, paranoid killer beast... "There are some who say he just made a mistake, and we all do mistakes" There are even flowers being laid there. Does he really deserve an RIP? I just can;t believe these. I wonder if our British people would do this, if this guy was a foreigner! Good question! We do have some strange people in the UK, don't we?

... to Rot In Pieces? Absolutely. Unfortunately I believe that quartering a criminals remains and displaying them in different locations until they decompose has been stricken from your penal code.

There are idiots everywhere. Seriously, these idiots would praise a turd if they thought they were sticking it to the man. With some of these specimens, you've got to think that Darwin took a wrong turn somewhere.

:) Very true! I just thought about the children who were abused by him, and teh people who were killed and some in hospital, etc. and reading these news just makes you feel numb! I wonder what these people are made of! Goodness sake! If this guy was a foreigner, the whole country would be calling for deporting all foreigners from UK, and blaming the Immigration system for it.

That's a nice slippery slope there :) What else does a murderer not deserve? Money? A home? Certain body parts? His life? How about less extreme criminals, what privileges would you take from them? Now don't get me wrong, it's all the same to me; scaphism for them all, or letting them all walk freely, I don't care. Would be a nice back room subject :)

I'm not defending Mote, however he was not a kiddy fiddler. A junked up steroid freak - yes A violent thug - yes A mysoginist of the lowest order - yes But there was no evidence - to my knwoledge - that he abused, beyond thuggery, children.

It's partly media hype I guess. There was a cold blooded jungle dacoit in southern India called Veerappan who was responsible for the deaths of 100s of people over several decades. When he was finally shot dead, TV channels and newspapers made a robin hood out of him and people were profusely crying on live TV saying they wish he was alive. :wtf:

            Regards, Nish

There has been a long tradition of this, look at how the Kray twins were lionised in the 60s. It's not surprising the news source is "The Grauniad" either. It is the bastion of left-of-centre arts'n'media'n'culture middle-class thought, and likes to pump out liberal "off centre" opinion in an attempt to look clever / hip. The Guardian often seems to me to be like a first-year university student trying to impress a trendy media studies lecturer for some reason*. It is quite telling that the last paragraph contains the quote "that dispossessed, white working-class, masculine mentality" as well, angst about this sort of thing is a typical Guardian meme, especially if they can tie it in with attitudes their readers find deplorable. * I do like Charlie Brooker though.

"Ooh! if I say I love him, I'll get on TV!" Be thankful that he didn't have a blog, explaining how his decision to behave as he did was a rational and intelligent thing to do. Remember that the majority of the population of every country idolises complete cretins (pop stars, sportsmen, etc.), so a percentage of the idiotic football fans, for example, will have no problem also idolising someone like him.

Nicely put, but, unfortunately, it will fly over the heads of most people, who are convinced (as was Moat, probably) that their preferred way of living their lives is the only acceptable way.

You're assuming abuse of the sexual variety, abuse takes many forms, and a monster with this level of hate and violence inside him surely couldn't fail to instill fear into a child - if not directly then through having to witness (perhaps) and hear (almost definitely) the violence against his girlfriend/wife/partner which we know happened regularly.
