No, it doesn't, that is a fallacy. In fact for about 100 years the people of london only frank beer, as the water would have killed you. Children would get two pints of beer a day at school (those that could afford to go there), and most people would drink 6 to 8 pints a day. It is an urban myth that beer dehydrates. There is far more water in the beer than the alcohol could possible absorb.

Holly crap, is that true? It could be, because it’s sounds logical if the water is contaminated and I suppose after some time your body gets used with it and you are not even drunk. I remember some interview with a Bulgarian physician who was explaining that it’s not true that the Asian people are lacking from some enzyme which is decomposing the alcohol. The truth is that the Europeans have one extra enzyme because of thousand years drinking.

Yes, that is true aparently. thousands of years of drinking beer at 2% has given us the ability to handle alcohol.

Believe me it took real hard effort to increase my daily water intake, right now drinking 4 liters of cool clear water per day, no colas no sweetened drinks. Drinking lots and lots of water is undoubtedly good for health, but since human body is made of 70% fluid I am finding this increased intake of water actually put few extra pounds on me. Nevertheless, drink(only water), enjoy and stay safe :)

I've been drinking about three liters a day this summer. And only one (large) cup of coffee.

I've been drinking about three liters of coffee a day for most of my life. I rarely if ever drink plain water. FFS folks, fish crap and make love in that stuff!

It’s not only the beer; the wine is far older and much stronger. There were archeological inscriptions for one of the Kings/Khans/ in my country who has fought against drunkenness eradicating all vineyards in the country, some kind of Prohibition law in……. 8 century AD.

My math bit rusty, but if a person weighs 175 lbs then 175/40 = 4.375

                      The Digital Worm wrote:

Hmmm, You sure it is liters? that means the above person can consume max of 4.375 liters of water per day. So, 1 litre = 4+ cups 4.375 * 4 = 17.5 cups a day :omg: :wtf: p.s. I know what you said was maximum, but don't you think that is way off.

Depends on your size and how much you consume, I used to do cardio workout for 30 minutes everyday and lose almost half a liter water in the morning itself. Moreover, my dietitian told me that the max limit of daily intake of fluids is your weight in pounds/40, it comes exact 5 liters a day for me.

Unless you're mixing up imperial and metric units it rather sounds like you need to loose some weight. How was the formula exactly?

But it is true if you consider the amount of water he was talking about... 4 liters is nothing. Water toxicity is a hard level to reach, so you acting like it happens without much effort is a bit of a stretch. And athletes need at least half their body weight in ounces if they are going to sweat a lot. I drink more than 4 liters every day (more like 6 to 8 depending), and I feel better for it compared when to not drinking as much. It makes kidney and liver functions easier as well. Besides, most foods also have salt in them as a preservative, which gives you those electrolytes back anyway. So cherry picking one little fact without considering what else is going into your body is not really seeing the big picture. Point is, 4 liters of water a day won't hurt you at all, and in fact it'll be beneficial. Ok, maybe if you're a 20 pound midget that's too much, but for the average person I mean - especially an athlete.

You'll actually hold less water by drinking a lot. Not giving your body enough water will make it retain it and stay bloated. Which is why really fat people tend to have a LOT of water weight... they don't drink nowhere near enough for their body weight.

That includes urination and out the sweat glands. Guess what the transport mechanism is for your kidneys and liver? It's water. In fact, a hangover is mostly severe dehydration.

I try to refrain from eating and drinking water together this dilutes digestive acids, slow down metabolism and in result you may actually put extra flab.

Well, that's a bit of overkill. I bet you can eat soup for a month and not gain weight.

y dietitian told me that the max limit of daily intake of fluids is your weight in pounds/40,

My math bit rusty, but if a person weighs 175 lbs then 175/40 = 4.375

it comes exact 5 liters a day for me.

                                          Yusuf May I help you?

Very few people actually drink anywhere near as much water as doctors recommend.

                                          3x12=36 2x12=24 1x12=12 0x12=18
