work, that is. I have two PC's, running W2000 Pro. I KNOW they can see the network, because they can both see the Ethernet modem plugged into the switch, to browse the web, and clicking on computers near me brings up the name of the other pc. Both have the same username/password combo, they both have 192.168.0.xxx IP addresses, they both belong to the same workgroup, but clicking on the icon from 'computers near me' elicits a login dialog that says: Incorrect password or unknown username for \\computername Do any networking gurus have any advice for me, pls ? Christian No offense, but I don't really want to encourage the creation of another VB developer. - Larry Antram 22 Oct 2002 Hey, at least Logo had, at it's inception, a mechanical turtle. It's often the simplest things that get overlooked (because of course they're correct, so they don't need checking) Must be human nature, I guess :| -- Help me! I'm turning into a grapefruit!

When they pretend not to know each other I usually go to Map Network Drive on Tools in explorer. This will automatically come up with a logon dialog box, so the silly thing can't complain about the username passwords, etc.
Deploying a web application without understanding security is roughly equivalent to driving a car without seatbelts - down a slippery road, over a monstrous chasm, with no brakes, and the throttle jammed on full.
