I always wondered why they were so expensive. Thanks for the tip... may save me some money whenever I buy an HD TV.

Welcome to my world, personally the people who do this should be hung up by one of their cables attached to certain dangly body bits.

Relax, they're just trying to make money off misinformed people, why care? Just be informed yourself.

I am certainly not one to buy HDMI cables (They can be acquired for free legally if you know how) but I can see how some more expensive cables have better shielding to prevent dropped packets. While the linked article definitely contains a lot of words it did not contain a test of compliance with the HDMI standard nor a test of error rate in a high noise environment. (Run a microwave next to your HDMI cable or something) Again, I am not advocating more expensive cables but I would prefer to see a research over statements.

Reminds me of the electronic shops in downtown Manhattan, NY. I saw a TrendNet wireless usb for $200. It costs $10 at MicroCenter, $20 (with 10 rebate). Also, reminds me of the entire store called Radio Shack.

You're still getting ripped off. Buy them a week in advance from monoprice[^] for a fraction of that price.

Take a look next time a little closer, anything that plugs into a computer is about 300% to 900% over priced compared with what you get from just up the road.
