I've been selling software online for a couple of years, and I'd be interested in hearing what my collegues are using to process online payments. Also if you have some pros and cons, do post them!

Google Checkout. Works great, fair prices and it is not PayPal.

Need custom software developed? I do custom programming based primarily on MS tools with an emphasis on C# development and consulting. I also do Android Programming as I find it a refreshing break from the MS. "And they, since they Were not the one dead, turned to their affairs" -- Robert Frost

I've been using NorthStar Solutions[^] since 1998 and have been very happy with them. /ravi

I've used PayPal the last couple of sites I did, it works okay. What objections do you have to them, specifically, in case I should start avoiding them?

A long time ago I tried to sign up for a paypal account and they wanted to charge me $1 for the privilege. While I think that is no longer the case I have no interested in them after that. Google has never been so oppresive. Plus PayPal is owned by Ebay which is Evil.

No, they don't charge a dollar to set up an account any more. Most of the time, I go with PayPal because the client asked for them...they have used PayPal and they want to stay in the environment that they're familiar with. I haven't had any problems with PayPal so far (knock on wood). I've bought a few things off EBay...they aren't that bad :)

We currently use Share-It[^]. Despite being part of the other evil empire (Digital River) they've been fine for us. However, if you are looking to move, either Fastspring[^] or Avangate[^] are probably safer long term bets. BTW this topic has been discussed endlessly in the Business of Software Forum[^], so a quick search there is always a good idea.

I was one of those early birds, we got Paypal accounts back before eBay bought them and PayPal was in its first year. They paid us $50 to open an account ;)
