Being a "global phenomenon" does not mean that everything is getting warmer. It means the effect is not local or regional, as in it isn't focused on one geographical area. Ambiguous wording, perhaps, but not incorrect.

And the Antarctic has ben getting colder for 60 years, and sea ice has been increasing. So if the volume is reducing, then it can only mean that precipitation has reduced. Is this to be expected with a cooling climate in the region? Who knows. (In fact Greenland is gaining thickness but loosing area so this could be the case). Yes, I know what heat is... But why do you keep assuming that being "global" means it's affecting EVERYTHING? If it hits parts of North America, Asia, and Africa (or whichever regions it was - I'm caring less about this by the second) it's global, as opposed to regional.

THAT's what matters when talking about the ice caps. The amount of ice that is on the cap instead of adding to sea levels.
