So, after a stupid bet last year, I will take part Sunday with 2 friends at the Marathon de Montreal[^] running my first Half-Marathon , 21km (well, running, not yet sure I will be able to run the whole length ... ) As I'm not in very sportive shape and I haven't trained as I planned to, my goal is to finish it in less than 2h30. So far in my training, I was able to run 15km in ~1h25 ~1h45. Any runner here at CP ? I will post the result Monday ( if I'm able to walk to my computer ;-) ) Wish me luck !!!

I would like to run (euphemism) my first Half Maraton here at Rome, next year. At the moment I'm able to run 10 km in 50 minutes (I did 15km in 1h20m the last April). Good Luck! :)

I run a couple of races every year where the Dayton Police Department Special Response Unit runs as a team. They're a great bunch of guys, and they tend to sing raunchy marching songs the whole time. I usually manage to stay ahead of them, but not by much. When I do, I like to lean over to the runners next to me and say: "You see those guys over there? They have guns and they're shooting stragglers." Sounds like a reason to run. :-D

Actually it sounds like a reason to either hide, or better yet, not enter the race at all, which would be my choice.

Good luck. Half marathons are fun. keep it slow and steady. I used to be a competitive runner about 5 years ago. That was before, having a few kids, starting smoking, and gaining about 60 extra pounds. I've sense quit the smoking, started jogging again (plan to get back into it full swing), weight is slowly dropping.

my mistake, it was 15km in 1h45 ( the 1h25 was for my last training and "only" 12km )

Good luck. Remember to stay hydrated during the race. Drinking some water every couple of km's is essential to keeping a steady pace. I stil remember my first half and it was 2 hours 21 minutes. :)

I can manage 15cm in 1.45 seconds :-O but then I have to pause for a few seconds to catch my breath :sigh: ;)
