Yes: do not replace it. It's a system file and Windows 2k System File Protection won't let you do it. lazy isn't my middle name.. its my first.. people just keep calling me Mel cause that's what they put on my drivers license. - Mel Feik

It needs to be replaced becasue it is corrupted and is causing problems and windows file protection errors keep comin up. Even W2K is having trouble replacing it. Would directx or SP3 replace this file?

Try SP3, or re-installing your current service pack. If that doesn't work, try running "SFC /scannow". If that still doesn't work, the version in the dllcache (C:\WinNT\System32\dllcache\) is corrupt. You should be able to replace that version with the correct file, and then run "SFC /scannow" to replace the version in the system directory. Only use this as a last resort - you can really bugger your machine up by doing this!

Couldn't use your Windows 2000 install disk and boot the repair console and do it from there? Why waste time learning when ignorance in instantaneous -Hobbes
